Oatmeal Fluted Floor Amphora
A statement stoneware vessel wheel-thrown in our Culver City studio with subtle vertical fluting and raw exterior rim.
Behind the Craft
Throwing this piece requires thirty pounds of grogged California stoneware clay centered on our Shimpo whisper wheel. Fired to Cone 10 (2,350°F) in a gas reduction kiln, creating iron speckling through the warm oatmeal satin glaze. Ideal for long eucalyptus branches, dried botanical stems, or as a standalone architectural accent on low benches and credenzas.
Potter’s Kiln Note
Slow-dried for 3 weeks to prevent thermal stress; reduction fired to 2,350°F.
